The mission of Eagle Christian Church is to reach people with the gospel message of Jesus Christ, teach them to become devoted followers of Jesus, equip and train them for ministry and send them as workers into the harvest field. Our Elders oversee the basic divisions in our mission statement.
Steve graduated from Puget Sound Christian College with a Bachelor of Arts in Preaching. He received a Master of Arts in Practical Ministry from Pacific Christian College and a Master of Divinity in Theology from Lincoln Christian Seminary. Steve received his Doctorate from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in 2007. In 1995, Steve planted Eagle Christian Church (ECC) with the belief that Eagle was “under-churched” and needed a non-denominational, Bible-believing church. In addition to his ministry at ECC, he teaches part-time at Boise Bible College. He has served at BBC since 1990. Steve and Sally were married in 1987 and have four children.
Mark graduated from Puget Sound Christian College with a B.A. in Preaching/Youth Ministry. Mark has been in leadership ministry since 1979, serving in Washington, Idaho, and Illinois in youth, associate and preaching ministries. Mark attended graduate school at Lincoln Christian Seminary in Illinois. Mark has served ECC since 2002 as Family Life and Men’s Minister: his roles now include Men’s Ministries, Adult Discipleship, Family Life Ministries, and the Global Impact Ministry Network – Missions . Mark’s passions are Discipleship (The Jesus Journey), Men’s Ministries (developing Christ-centered leadership and family life), and Missions. Mark and his wife, Bobbie, have three grown children: Ryan and his wife, Emily, parents of River James [2/1/15] and Evi June [10/14/16] in Louisville, KY, Alex, and Jaynie, who both live and work in Boise. Bobbie teaches 11th grade Medieval Humanities at the Ambrose Classical Christian School.
Randy joined the Eagle ministry team in 2013, and is a graduate of Boise Bible College. Randy’s heart for ministry has led him to serve in various ministries in Idaho, Arizona, and New Mexico, including the Intermountain Church Planters Association, Gate City Christian Church, Boise Bible College, Thunder Mountain Community Church, and Gallup Christian Church. Randy was instrumental in helping to plant Eagle Christian Church in 1995. Randy has also spent 14 years in the business world, working for Xerox Corporation in the western US. Randy and his wife, Brynda, were married in 1993 and have one daughter.
Bill is a graduate of Puget Sound Christian College, and earned his Masters in Education from Eastern Washington University. He is currently the Minister of Administration at Eagle Christian Church. Previously Bill served as the Marriage & Family Pastor at Real Life Ministries in Post Falls, Idaho, and before that he taught for eight years at Boise Bible College. Bill and Jill have been happily married for over 25 years, and are the proud parents of four wonderful children: Josh, Matt, Anna, and Billy.
Charles Arthur Crane, BSL; MA; MDiv; DMin; ordained to preaching ministry in 1962, served as a preaching minister from 1962-1990 when he became President of Boise Bible College from which he retired after eighteen years. He began work with Eagle Christian Church after taking a sabbatical, during which time he and his wife, Margaret, toured the United States in their recreational vehicle. What he has always enjoyed doing most is teaching, preaching and interacting with members of the church. His hobbies and interests include travel, writing, collecting coins, antique fountain pens, rebuilding old vehicles, and being a private pilot. He has written numerous books, scholarly articles for publication, appeared in one movie, for two years was on nationwide television and featured in a number of educational videos. He and Margaret rejoice with their three children and thirteen grandchildren.
Jim joined the staff at Eagle Christian Church in 2013. He graduated from Puget Sound Christian College in 1977 with a Bachelors Degree in Preaching Ministries. In 1986, Jim received the Master of Divinity Degree from Emmanuel Christian Seminary. Jim has 35 years of pastoral ministry experience serving churches in Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and North Carolina. Jim and Carla have three sons: James (Marjorie), Matthew, and Andrew (Abby). Jim and Carla enjoy woodworking and stained glass as a hobby to spend time together. They also enjoy the Oregon coast, and especially their grandchildren.
Kevin Hestead received his B.A. from Puget Sound Christian College and his M.Div. from Lincoln Christian Seminary. He has served churches in Idaho and Washington for over 30 years, in Youth Ministry, Christian Education, and was a lead pastor for 22 years. He has been involved in small group ministry for over 25 years. He joined the ECC staff in 2016 as the Minister of Small Groups. His passion is for everyone to be a part of a great small group, where they can see how their story intersects with God’s Story. Kevin and his wife, Marcia, have been married for 35 years and have five adult children. Kevin loves to read, watch Seahawks football, and golf.
MACM (Master of Arts Counseling Ministry)
Rich graduated from high school in 1966 and studied music and mathematics at Eastern Washington State College & Boise State University. He graduated from Boise Bible College (BBC) in 1986 and was a full time preacher; serving at churches in Oregon, Idaho, and Illinois until 2005. He has worked as a part-time professor at BBC from 2000-2005 and has been professor/Director of Christian Services at BBC since 2005. He is also a graduate of Lincoln Christian Seminary (2006) with a Master of Arts in Counseling Ministry. He and Teresa have three sons: Jeff, Kenny, & Joshua. He works at Eagle Christian Church as a part-time Christian counselor.
Matt grew up in Montana and northern Nevada, working on a ranch before moving to Boise to attend Boise Bible College. He married Christina in 2011 and graduated from BBC in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Preaching. During his time at BBC, Matt served in student leadership at the college, worked in youth ministry, lived in a really sketchy camper for a while, and did as much camp ministry as possible. After graduation, he ministered to BBC’s students as a full-time staff member for one year. He joined the ECC staff in August 2014 and currently has a Master of Arts degree (Johnson University) in progress. Matt loves reading, doing semi-adventurous outdoor activities, watching and playing sports (especially baseball), and he has a passion for helping students grow in the kingdom of God.
Jake grew up in Milwaukie Oregon, a suburb of Portland, until he moved to Idaho to attend Boise Bible College. He spent the first two years at BBC traveling on the college’s musical worship team, and also served as one of their summer camp representatives. During his third year of BBC he got connected with ECC’s Regeneration community, and has been leading worship there ever since. In the summer of 2013, he married Sarah Francis. During his last year of college, Jake joined the ECC staff, where he has been serving as the Young Adult minister. Soon after that, he graduated with his BA in Preaching and has been serving young adults ever since. Jake is currently pursuing his Master’s in NT, along with Matt (High School), Jakob (Middle School), and Randy (Associate).
Jakob grew up in the small town of Jefferson, Oregon. He attended Boise Bible College, where he served as student body president and volunteered at many churches in the valley, including an internship at ECC. After graduating with his Bachelor’s Degree in Preaching, Jakob continued his job in the admissions office at BBC. He joined the staff of ECC in the summer of 2013, and is passionate and excited about the next generation of leaders and the potential in middle school students. He also had the privilege of marrying an amazing woman, Stacey, in the summer of 2013.
Nate has a heart to serve parents and their children. Encouraging people to see children as the church of today and assisting them to discover their place in God’s family is Nate’s passion. He graduated from Boise Bible College in 2009 with a degree in Christian Education and Missions. After college, Nate worked as a counselor at World Relief, assisted children at Family Counseling Services, and later went into Family Ministry. Nate married his beautiful wife, Carrie Lacy, in 2008 and they have a daughter, Brooklyn Lacy, born in 2012. Pastor Nate joined Eagle Christian’s team May 22, 2017. He loves God, his family, people, and enjoys the great outdoors!
Courtney McNew joined our Children’s Ministry Team in 2015. She graduated from Boise Bible College in 2008 with a degree in Christian Ministry with an emphasis in Children’s Ministry. Courtney began serving in Children’s Ministry as a teenager and has since been active in ministry within a local congregation. Courtney has served and directed camps at Intermountain Christian Camp in Fairfield, ID including serving on their board for the past several years. She married Troy in 2008 and they have three incredible boys – Keagan, CJ, and Shea. Courtney’s family loves camping, fishing, and anything else to get into the mountains. Courtney loves working with kids because they are full of wonder and excitement. Jesus said to let the little children come to Him. Courtney says, “I’m here to take them by the hand and make sure they make it!”
Vicki joined the staff at Eagle Christian Church in November of 2016. She graduated from Boise State University with a BA in Elementary Education. Before God called her into children’s ministry, she taught kindergarten and first grade in public school for seven years. Vicki has eleven years of children’s ministry leadership experience serving in Bible Study Fellowship and various local churches. She started the preschool program at Cole Valley Christian School where she taught and served as Director for four years. She has a passion for combining church and family to give preschoolers their first look at the God who made them, loves them, and wants to be their friend forever. It is her heart’s desire to see ECC preschoolers grow up with a firm foundation in who they are in Christ—living from a place of love and acceptance rather than for it. Vicki and her husband, Ron, have three children: Dustin, Jamey and Taylor.
Since 2007, Scott Riggan has been leading worship and overseeing Worship Arts at ECC. He has spent years touring as a recording artist, and his current CD is “Deep Roots.” Scott holds a BA in Biblical Studies from Boise Bible College and serves as a representative for One Child Matters, an international Christian relief organization. His travels have taken him all across the US as well as Ghana, Tanzania, Mexico, Italy, Greece, Turkey and China. Scott and his wife, Julie, live in Emmett with their two children, Emily and Josiah. Barton is a graduate of Lincoln Christian University with BAs in Preaching and Business Administration. He joined the ECC staff in May of 2017 after finishing an MA in Strategic Ministry from Johnson University while a ministry resident with the Leadership Institute at Christ Church of the Valley in Phoenix, AZ. Barton served for three-and-a-half years as a worship and discipleship pastor at church plants in Rhode Island affiliated with Restoration House Ministries out of Manchester, NH. He is married to Emily, and they have one daughter, Ainsley Ida.
Glennis comes to Eagle Christian Church after 20 years as the Librarian and Women’s Ministry professor at Boise Bible College. She graduated from Emporia State University with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and Speech. She later earned an MEd from the University of Idaho in Secondary Education and Library Science. She has a number of hours in theology and Christian Education from Manhattan Christian College. Before her years at BBC, Glennis spent 13 years as a high school language arts teacher and took a decade off to raise their daughter. Glennis has been a speaker at various women’s retreats, conferences, and women’s ministry training seminars. She and her husband, Larry, were married while in college, have a daughter and son-in-law and two grandchildren who are the delight of their hearts. They also are part of the ECC family. Glennis enjoys gardening, golfing, time in the mountains, and time spent studying. Her greatest joy is her family. Her greatest passion is helping women of all ages come to know and serve Christ as Lord of their lives.
Brian’s responsibilities at Eagle Christian Church include general office management and communication duties including bookkeeping, finances, attendance, technology, database administration, and events scheduling. He and his wife, Andrea, have 3 children.
Janet joined the staff of ECC in November 2009 as Executive Assistant to the Senior Minister, and also as graphic designer. She was born and raised in Emmett, where she currently resides. For many years, she volunteered as a church pianist and organist. She studied graphic design at Boise State University, and has many years of experience in that field, including ten years at Boise Cascade Corporation. Before coming to ECC, she spent more than nine years as Executive Assistant to the President of Boise Bible College, where she also provided graphic design and web site design.
Jeff was born and raised in North Georgia to a very musical family. Growing up, he was immersed in a tradition of old-time and bluegrass music. His father was a professional musician, so Jeff spent many days in the recording studio with his father. He soon followed in his father’s footsteps and went on the road playing music professionally right out of high school. Jeff quickly transitioned into working as a studio musician, producer and engineer. He has worked in many studios including Dark Horse Recording Studio, Sound Wave Recording Studio with Rich Adler and Hilltop Studios. In 2001, Jeff married accomplished singer/songwriter, Honi Deaton, and together they toured internationally and were featured on many recordings including movie soundtracks. Jeff was even cast as “Bobbie Joe,” a musical character in an Indie movie called “Stuck in the Past.”
In 2009, Jeff stopped touring professionally and started training audio technicians in various churches across Georgia and Texas. He moved with his wife and three children to Caldwell, Idaho in 2014. He and his wife still perform bluegrass and contemporary worship music at various community fund raisers and community outreach programs across the Treasure Valley. Jeff joined the staff of Eagle Christian Church in January of 2017.
Grant grew up in Bend, Oregon and came to the Treasure Valley to attend Boise Bible College. While at BBC he met and married his wife, Sara. He also discovered his passion for media and video production. During his five years at BBC he served as lead tech. He first came to Eagle as an intern and was later brought on staff in 2007. Grant and Sara have four children.
Christine was born in Nampa but has lived in a variety of places since her father and husband both spent time in the military. She has worked 11 years in various positions for another local church, and started attending ECC in 2010. She began working for ECC in May of 2016. Christine and her husband of 30+ years have four grown children, and nine grandchildren, which are the joy of her life. She loves spending time with family, camping, and crafting.
